As excited as I am for summer to come, I feel like it goes by in a blink of an eye. Summertime is such a special time for my family because we are able to spend so much time together and enjoy each other’s company. Martin works Saturday-Monday, so as a teacher, I miss my hubby during the school year (a lot).
Anything we do together as a family is simple. We don’t travel too much or venture out a whole lot; being at home is certainly okay with us. At the beginning of this summer we went to Colorado Springs. We spent 4 days there and took our little ones to Santa’s Workshop. If you have young children or children of any age really, it is totally worth it. We all had a blast. The kids were able to see Santa, ride everything they wanted, and eat a decent meal. This was pretty much an all day trip; they were exhausted by the end. (So were the adults)! The rest of the time we just spent enjoying the company and finding some excellent places to eat!
The rest of the summer consisted of completing small tasks around the house that we don’t get to during the rest of the year because of our weird schedules. We did a major landscape revamp that took a couple of weeks and lots of hard work to complete. Our backyard is certainty more cozy and homey now. We like to spend a lot of time in our backyard now, especially when the sun starts to set.
Now that summer ends, our lives will change back to a morning routine, set dinner time, and homework time. Even though our summers are quiet and simple, I will still miss sleeping in, binge watching random shows, not having to go anywhere, wearing shorts, s’mores, roasted hotdogs, and spending the best time with my family.
I hope you all have also had a great, memorable summer. Whether it is back to school or work, I wish you all a great start to August and into the wonderful season of Fall!
