A History of Me

Greetings new friends! I wanted to share a little insight of who I am and where I come from, so you get to know me.

I was raised in Belen, NM- a very small town with a lot of heart. There is something special about that town that makes me feel complete. It’s most likely because my parents still live there, my oldest child will start school there now in the fall, or because it is where I drive to work each day. Either way, I am proud of where I am from, and proud to call Belen home.

Upon graduating from Belen High School (Home of the Eagles) in 2007, I attended The University of New Mexico and graduated in 2012 with my Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science. During this time of graduating from college, I was working as a Restaurant Manager at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen in Albuquerque. This was far from my dream job, but I was able to gain an abundance of knowledge that I am forever grateful for. In this same year of 2012, I also reconnected with my now husband, Martin Baca. (More on that story in a later post)

Moving forward to the following year, Martin and I got married, and we soon after were expecting our first child. In March of 2014, our son Brayden Lee Baca was born. (Again, more on his birth story later) This same year, I also became a teacher; a career which absolutely changed my life. There is something special about working and teaching students- I truly love what I do.

In 2015, my dad received a miracle, a gift of life and love; a liver transplant. This story is utterly miraculous, heart felt, and gloomy, all at the same time. I can’t wait to share this with you all. This same year, my husband and I were expecting our second child. Mylah Rose Baca was born in May of 2016- another birth story worth the share, soon.

Beginning in January of 2017, I began working on my Masters of Art, in Educational Leadership at Western New Mexico University. This fall, I will begin my administrative internship; this is crazy to me!

Another part of me that I want to share is the struggles I have had with my health. I have numerous digestive issues that sometimes hold me back from daily activities. It is hard sometimes, but the times when I feel well are when I am most grateful to be able to enjoy the things that I love; my family, my career, and this journey of life.

Part of my blog, In Living Beside Me, is just being real with what life has to offer, remembering the most important people and things. No matter what life hands me or any of us, we must keep God in control and allow Him to guide us in everything we do, every decision we make, and never forget to thank Him at the end of each day for all the blessings we have in each of our lives’.

With Love,
